Description
Baptisia australis, also known as false blue indigo is a perennial wildflower. Though not native to Michigan it is native to a few states to the South and West. We like to include it as it is popular with gardeners and pollinators alike.
Plant reaches 4 feet tall and flowers from May to July with a blue blossom.
It prefers full sun to partial shade, medium to dry soil and will grow in clay, loam or sand.
