Description
Liatris pycnostachia, also known as prairie blazing star is a perennial wildflower. Though not native to Michigan, It is native to several states West and South of Michigan. We like to include it as it is popular with gardeners and pollinators alike.
Plant reaches 4 feet tall and flowers from July to August with a purple blossom.
It prefers full sun to partial shade, medium to wet soil and will grow in clay, loam or sand.
